The message from the UK government at the height of the coronavirus pandemic is clear: stay at home, save lives. But it’s not always easy to get the message across to youngsters… how do you make a strong case without frightening them?

Children’s writer and illustrator Caroline Pedler was pondering that very question. And, as she pondered, Caroline started doodling. The result is the utterly charming mini picture book, Stay Home.

Meet bird. Bird knows that he’s supposed to stay home. The trouble is, Bird just loves to go out. Surely one quick outing to see his friends can’t hurt…. can it?
