Shagufta K. Iqbal
Author
Shagufta K. Iqbal is a dyslexic writer who grew up in Bristol and now lives in London - with her husband, children, stepchildren, cats and teacups. There are many places she has called a home, but this is by far her favourite one.
Shagufta writes about place and belonging, because family and community are important to her - whatever that family and community may look like. She’s passionate about sharing poems about all the different kinds of love we hold, and how we build our love relationships, whether with Allah, in romantic relationships, with family, community or in our love of nature - and she always writes about food.
Shagufta’s children’s stories include Bibi and Rumi and The Spelling Bee. She has contributed to Spin! and Slam! poetry anthologies and is writing a children’s picture book, There Are Cats in the Mosque. Everything In-Between is her first full children’s collection.
As well as writing, she loves baking and climbing mountains (but not at the same time, because taking an oven up a mountain would just be silly!)
‘An incredibly accomplished writer who leads with heart and sincerity - definitely one to watch’ — Joseph Coelho
