Miriam Halahmy writes novels, short stories and poetry for children, teens and adults. Her stories and poems have been included in anthologies, read out on the radio and performed on stage.

Miriam was a special needs teacher and departmental head for many years. She believes that all young people have a future and that reading can offer a route map forward. She has been married into an Iraqi family for more than thirty years and their stories provided much of the inspiration for her novel Hidden.

An active participant in promoting peace and dialogue across divided communities, Miriam believes in standing up to any injustice, however small. Her other books include The Emergency Zoo, Yasmin’s Journey and Behind Closed Doors.
