Hilda Offen is an award-winning children’s author and illustrator known for her prize winning picture books, stories for young readers and poetry. She won the Smarties Gold Award for her picture book Nice Work, Little Wolf! and her book The Galloping Ghost was shortlisted for the Roald Dahl Funny Book Prize and the Portsmouth Children's Book Award.
Hilda’s titles for Troika includeToo Many Hats and Blue Balloons and Rabbit Ears (shortlisted for the 2015 CLPE Poetry Award, and Message from the Moon. The first title in the Rita the Rescuer series was published by Penguin over twenty years ago and they have delighted children ever since.
Hilda's newest poetry collection is The Song of the Dodo, which will be published in March 2018.
Hilda was born in Surrey and lived for the first part of her life on an entirely self-sufficient small-holding. She now lives in Brighton.
